International Team

There will be always someone you can turn to for help at HSE. Our International Team understands the challenges you face in adapting to a new culture and environment. The Center for International Education has a dedicated International Student Support team that is always here to make your study experience positive and valuable. They can provide you with:
 
• Pre-departure information;
• An international Orientation Program and support during Welcoming week;
• Ongoing social and personal support during your stay;
• Advice on changing and transferring courses, and other matters related to academic progress;
• Advice on visa renewal and assistance with dealing with government agencies;
• A dedicated HSE website to help you through the life cycle of studying at HSE and living here in Moscow.
 
The International team provides a range of services for international students who come to HSE for a semester, year, summer or short programs. One of its main functions is to assist inbound students with their transition to Russia and HSE. In order to adjust to life as a HSE student, it is essential that you participate in the Orientation Week Program. It will provide you with information on your study program, as well as other useful information to maximize your enjoyment and positive experience while studying at HSE. It is also a great opportunity for you to meet other international and student buddies. International students can contact the International Team at any time during their stay at HSE
 
Individual councelling 
 
The International Team provides free, confidential counselling to International students and their families. This support service can assist you to work through personal or academic concerns which may arise during your time at the University.

The International Team has qualified counsellors who:
• Are experienced in dealing with particular cross-cultural issues
• Have a broad knowledge of the academic system and credit transfer matters
• Understand the social and emotional issues that you may experiecne
 
Some of the issues that International students or their families seek assistance with include:
• Culture shock
• Loneliness or difficulty making friends
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Concern about events in your home country
• Academic difficulties such as different expectations or learning styles to your home country
• Stress
• Alcohol or drug problems
• Relationship difficulties
• Eating and body image concerns
 
International team counsellors can:
• Provide confidential counselling to discuss the concerns or issues affecting you
• Liaise with academic and administrative staff
• Refer you to specialist services if necessary
• Refer you to other services or sources of information which may be useful to you
