Tutorship

The Center for International Education manages a tutorship program for new International students. The purpose of the program is to:
  • Connect new International exchange students with current students.
  • Provide general advice, support, encouragement and social contact for new students, in order to assist in adjusting to studying and living in Moscow.
  • Make a valuable contribution in supporting the transition of exchange students and to create a more supportive learning environment.

Student Buddy System

The success of studying in another country very much depends on how well you can adapt to and integrate into your new environment. To help you achieve this as quickly as possible, HSE has launched a buddy system.

A buddy is a senior student who will help you get through the phase of adaption once you arrive at HSE. From their own experience, they will help you find your way around the campus, the city of Moscow, and get used to life in Russia in general. Your buddy will take you for a tour of the city, help you buy some food in the Russian supermarket, accompany you to various events that take place in and around Moscow etc. During Orientation Week all new international students will be assigned a buddy.

Online tutorship for new international students

Would you like to find out about the University and from somebody who has already experienced it?

If so the University's pre-arrival mentoring scheme for new international students could be for you.
By joining the scheme you will have the opportunity to talk to current international students about HSE, Moscow and Russia. You can find out what student life is really like in Russia, what experiences your mentor has had and what they enjoy doing here.

Please note that student buddies are not in a position to answer any questions on immigration or your application to the University or its Accommodation Services. These queries must be sent to the relevant University department.

How do I take part?

It's easy to register your interest in the student-tutoring scheme. First, you will need to meet our student-buddies.  You then need to tell us about yourself by submitting the form below.

Staff at the University from the Center for International Education will then match you with one of these student-buddies who we feel you will be able to build a mutually beneficial relationship with. Please note we may not always be able to match you with your first choice of student-buddy so please let us know who your second choice is.

We will email you to let you know who your student-turor is and their email address. You will then be able to chat to your student-buddy straight away!

If you have any questions or would like more information on the student-buddy scheme please email us.

Extracurricular Activities

SU-HSE provides you with an opportunity to attend football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, swimming, chess, dancing, extreme sports trainings. Furthermore, case clubs, stand-up comedy meetings, theatre rehearsals is far from the full list of available ways of entertainment. There are always some educational seminars taking place as well, so if you wish, you won’t have any time for being bored.
